This Privacy Policy explains how SpeakType ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website and macOS app.
If you apply for the private beta, we save your email address, any use case and Mac details you provide, submission time, and limited referral/campaign information to manage the beta and contact you about access. Repeated applications using the same email do not create additional entries. Contact support@speaktype.ai to withdraw your application or request deletion.
With your permission, we use Google Analytics to measure public page visits, beta-button clicks, successfully saved beta applications, and download-button clicks. A download click does not establish that the app was installed. We do not send your email address, form answers, or account information to Google Analytics. You can decline optional analytics and still apply, or change your choice using “Privacy choices” at the bottom of the page.
In the Mac app, usage sharing is off by default. You can enable it on the Overview or Plan & Settings page, or in the SpeakType menu. With your permission, we send limited product events to PostHog in the United States: app starts, successful sign-ins, trial starts, dictation outcomes, word counts, language/mode, app/OS version, and processing times. A random installation ID connects these events. Analytics do not include audio, transcribed text, clipboard contents, email, authentication credentials, or hardware IDs. IP geolocation is disabled. You can turn sharing off anytime; queued events are discarded and the random ID is reset. Previously delivered events remain subject to retention and deletion policies.
SpeakType activates only when you explicitly trigger dictation. We do not perform continuous background recording. Audio and text may be transmitted to trusted infrastructure and AI providers to generate results. Where possible, processing is minimized to what is necessary for the requested feature.

We do not sell personal information. We may share limited data with service providers that help us operate the product, such as payment processing, hosting, analytics, and AI processing vendors. Data may also be disclosed if required by law.
We retain information only as long as needed to provide services, satisfy legal/accounting requirements, and resolve disputes. If you request deletion where applicable, we will process it within a reasonable timeframe.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To submit a request, contact support@speaktype.ai.
Our website or app may include links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.
SpeakType is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required by local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with the effective date.
